                 "How-To" PAT-Winlink - Pi - Digirig
==========================================================================
This "How-To" explains how to create a Winlink client using a Raspberry Pi.

You need five things to get started.
1) One Raspberry Pi version 3/4/5
2) One Digirig wired correctly for your radio.
3) One Digirig cable for your radio.
4) One USB cable that works with your Digirig.
5) A Radio

Here are the steps you need to perform to get up and running.
-------------------------------------------------------------
1) Obtain a Winlink account from winlink.org
2) Send a Winlink Email via telnet to ensure your account is working.
3) Install Pi OS on an SDCard and boot the Pi.
4) Configure the Pi
5) Install the required software including Direwolf and PAT-Winlink.
NOTE: The pat_winlink_install.sh script will do this for the impatient.
See Appendix III in the document.
6) Configure Direwolf
7) Configure PAT-Winlink
8) Configure AX.25 port
NOTE: An axports file has been included here as a template.
9) Connect the Digirig to the Pi and radio
10) Set the proper volume levels
11) Start Direwolf and PAT-Winlink
NOTE: The start_winlink.sh script will do this for you.
See Appendix IV in the document.
12) Start sending Emails over the air.

All of the above steps are covered in detail in the "How-To" document.
